In my highly scientific opinion, not having a head might raise the goofiness
factor of a mobile suit. Also, as far as I know, in humanoids, the head is
needed for balance and whatnot, and having guns attached to your head is a
lot quicker than having to aim with an appendage or a weapon built in
elsewhere.
