Well, what I would do is empty out a small closet, put the tapes loosly onto
a couple shalves, and put a dehumidifier in there. That should last you just
long enough to scrape up some cash for a DVD player. In the mean time tho',
grab a second VCR, and backup everything you have onto clean tape. That way,
if and when your commercial copies finally erodes into nothing but compost,
you'll at least have *something* on hand.
