This I completely agree with. You can't blame a series or story to it's
death just because it's too popular. It's like Pokemon; it's actually a
great children's cartoon. I would have loved the Anime if I had more time
to spend with it now, or when I was a kid; and I totally understand why
children love it so much. But many adults seem to hate it to death, trying
to picnick at smallest things which have to be dug up from the very depths
of the show, which in many people's minds don't even exist. Like how the
heck do people associate Pikachu with the devil; however they did that is
beyond my comprehension. If you rate a show, you look at the show itself
without comparisons and then gauge it like that. As a personal opinion,
Gundam Wing has a lot of holes in it's story and when comparing (this is
just an exception due to it's large relation to the name "Gundam"), it
doesn't fit up to the original source of Gundam. I'm sure tons of people
have their own personal opinions about their own favorite and unfavorite
shows, but I think the main reason why everybody hates certain shows is
because they are TOO popular.
Like the BSB, everybody hates those guys 'cause they are just WAY TOO
POPULAR. They're music just recently isn't that bad, it actually has some
meaning and substance to it. I wouldn't say perfect, but much better than
the NKOTB. So why do people hate them so much? Because either one of two
things (or even both); it's more popular than they are. Second, it's too
popular therefore they can't like it; certain people like certain things
because it's unpopular. It makes them feel special among the millions of
mindless followers, and if they walk in another direction, they'll feel
higher among the rest of the populace.
Sure these are just my opinions, but I think deep down in all of us on this
GML...if you hate something popular, you probably hate it due to either one
of those reasons up above, or either one of those two reasons participates
in your reasoning if not your main reason.
