I think he specifically mentioned Go Nagai in his post, but Voltron (which has
many of the same elements that Gegikanger incorporates) has a much larger
audience exposure here in the US than Go Nagai's shows. So I figured mentioning
it would be a good idea.
Having said that, if I remember correctly, the show known in the US as "Tranzor
Z" was one of Go Nagai's shows, with the title changed (presumably Mazinger Z).
The various mecha don't combine into one like the "Gangers" (?) do in
Gekiganger, though. I think I've also heard that there was more than one show
floating around with the name Tranzor Z, mind you, so the one you'd be looking
for would be the one with the super robot that could fire its fists (just like
Gekigan Punch! =P), and a "female" sidekick mecha with "breast missiles" (no,
I'm not joking... I WISH I were joking...).
