Perhaps, but I intend to argue the point. ^_^

And please, can we take this debate off the ML soon?

Plenty happens.

While it is true that a lot of EVA doesn't seem (I stress the seem) to be
plotted and just thrown in, especially when regards to the religion and
symbolism bits - does it need to be strictly regulated? I think the point of
it was to make the audience think about how everything worked together and
so Anno purposely left a lot of gaps so that people wouldn't be able to
claim anything as solid evidence.

I never said that the characters were more complex than other anime shows.
In fact, I think they're about as. (Well, Rei, Shinji and Asuka I think are
really well done, though...)

Perhaps...

Opinion again.

I disagree. Art can be art for art's sake.

>disagree. there are people who exist in real life

Give some examples, then. And then you need to realize exactly how badly the
EVA characters are messed up...this is not normal messed-up, this is
seriously messed up.

>evangelion characters. shrinks aren't what the
>characters need. they just need to grow up.

I have actually argued this point so many damn times on various MLs and
people than I have my an answer ready...but something tells me that I will
have to deliver this answer to lots of people, so I'll wait till the
argument goes to private mail first.
