>I dislike Eva.
WHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHY do you people dislike EVA? ARRGGH. ^_^
I know this is going to be highly off-topic, but I simply have to defend my
fave series...just allow me one mail, okay? Anyone else who wants to discuss
this I think had better do it over personal mail...
>I dislike it for the main reason that it ended up being a bad story. Just
>as I found the ending of Akira bad. As a writer and storyteller myself, it
Tell me why it's a bad story? I can't find anything in it that would
consistute "bad"
>is always bad form to confuse the reader with a multiple ending riddled
>with symbolism and what-ifs. Don't get me wrong, I loved evangelion at
That's the writer's prerogative. If he wants it to be surreal and not easily
understood, that's up to him/her. I mean, James Joyce's Ulysses is written
in the same vein...
>first, but after watching it again and again, and once I got past all the
>hype and the angels and evas....it just doesn't cut it. You can argue all

>everyone with symbolism and dysfunctional characters.
I think that is where I disagree with you. Firstly, I think it IS a good
story. Secondly, art doesn't need to please IMHO. It can be boring as all
hell and still, because of the brillance of execution, still be high art. I
mean, who really enjoys reading every one of Shakespeare's plays? Some may
be really boring, but because of the language and other elements, they still
remain lauded highly.
To reiterate, I still think it's a good story. ^_^ Part of the reason is :

Well, I won't go on any longer. If after my explanation, you still dislike
EVA, that's your sacred opinion (I might still consider you insane, but
that's still your opinion ^_^) so we'll leave it at that, I think.
>You can also argue that it's my taste; but then, I have a dislike for a

As I said, artistic prerogative. It's up to the artist to decide how many
endings he/she wants...I personally don't see anything wrong with multiple
endings, especially as the first one really is more of an experimental
technique than an ending.
>And there is the answer to the question.
One answer - yours.
>Uhm...it IS a mecha show. yes, it's magical and all that, but if the
>escaflowne and the melefs aren't considered mecha, then wow...
Okay, it's a mecha show. ^_^
>what about Nadesico?
It's good and all, but I don't think it can compare to original Gundam or EVA.
