No. Shot Lance offers a safe and effective way of destroying a mobile suit
main reactor without causing the ever so populiar beam weapon induced
reactor breach. When a reactor got penetrated by a beam weapon, it has a
tendacy of initiating an out of control nuclear reaction, with the output of
a small nuke.
Shot Lance, being a fast drilling solid projectile does not have this
handicap, and a mobile suit reactor will just shutdown once it loose the
I-Field cage that made the reaction possible. It is therefore a perfectly
safe weapon for mobile suit pilot who prefered very close range combat.
(Ideally, heated weapon such as heat saber, sword, dagger also works fine,
they just don't have Shot Lance's fast penetration quality).
