The actual translation of the kanji in the title is Legendary God-Giant Ideon.
Space Runaway is more of a nickname. It's the TV series that Yoshiyuki Tomino
(writer/director) and Yoshikazu Yasuhiro (artist/character designer) did after
Gundam. It ran from 8 May 1980 to 30 January 1981 and was compiled into two
movies, A Contact and Be Invoked. The Ideon is a HUGE giant robot the size of a
ship, composed of three parts that combine in various ways. It concerns a
galactic war and the fate of all intelligent life in the universe. One could
characterize it as Gundam writ incredibly large.
