It's difficult to say. The Axis/Neo-Zeon type fannel doesn't seem to
have enough boosters/verniers to help to maintain flight and fight at the
same time. Bearing in mind that fannels are actually almost as big as a
human being, they would require considerable lift to stay in action.
Given their size limits, it would be hard to imagine them packing enough
propellant to maintain flight for long, even if they could to begin with.
Then again, the Z and ZZ series physics aren't that sound. They were,
after all, products from a time when the art of producing Gundam has not
fully matured.
