There seems to be a high possibility that Char was able to employ fannels in 0093
only because of the advent in pyscommu technology -- the psycho frame -- working
in conjuction with a headpiece that he wears. Even though the audience was never
told if Char underwent the implant surgery that Amuro did, it is likely that Char
has received plenty of artificial magnification to his brainwave emission so that
he can employ a small number of fannels (six in Sazabi is really few compared
units found in the full-bloom years of NT of 0087 and 0088). As I have
repeatedly stressed, both Amuro and Char are exceptional NT pilots with
surprisingly weak brainwave emissions. In order to employ psycommu arsenal like
other NTs with stronger brainwave emissions, they went through quite a bit to
make sure that their psycommu units can pick up their brainwaves.
