In response to your points here, allow me to reiterate my proposition.
Both Amuro and Char are decent NTs. Their only weakness is brainwave emission, a
NT aspect that is dominated by the likes of Hamaan, Sirocco, Camille, and Puru
II. Lala and Quess, among others, are likely to belong to the second tier with
respect to brainwave emissions.
It is precisely their high NT talents that both Char and Amuro helped them attain
their legendary piloting skills. Both have exceptional talents in maneuvering an
MS and acquiring a sense of the battlefield.
Overall, there are many aspects that distinguishes a NT pilot from the regulars.
As a result, it is erroneous to rank our repetoire of NT pilots solely based on
their brainwave emissions or the ability to sense other NTs, which unfortunately
seems to be what we have been doing.
As a side note, Char did not "sense" nuclear missiles in CCA with his fannels.
He merely used them to detonate his targets.
