I'm not convinced either. Newtype abilities simply make a pilot better, not
invincible. (Unless you're Amuro Rei. ^_^)

As someone else pointed out, various Jion aces such as the White Wolf, Shin
Matsunaga, the Red Lightning, Johnny Raiden, and the Nightmare of Solomon,
Anavel Gato, are great pilots and they all aren't Newtypes.

While we're on that topic, does anyone notice just how many monikers the
Jion pilots have? Here's a listing :

Johnny Raiden - Akai Inazuma (Red Lightning)
Shin Matsunaga - Hakurou (White Wolf)
Anavel Gato - Solomon no Akumu (Nightmare of Solomon)
Gaia, Ortega and Mash - Kuroi Sanrensei (Black Trinity)
Ramba Ral - Aoi Kyosei (Literally, Blue Giant Star...haven't seen an English
version of this name yet)
Visch Donahue - Kouya no Jinrai (Wild Lightning's Edge)

and of course :

Char Aznable : Akai Suisei (Red Comet)

Compared to this, the Federation has ONE, (count it), one named pilot.

Lieutenant Rayer - The White Dingo

and that actually comes from his unit designation, not his skill. ^_^
(Though he's not bad.)

Technically, one could consider Amuro Rei the "Hero of the OYW" but his
enemies don't shout that when he goes into combat, so it doesn't count.

>My second reason has to do with the Wing series and the Zero system (I
>personally am a part of the very small minority that believes that at least

You've got another member here. I believe they are ALL newtypes, and so is
Zechs.

Huh? I thought it improved their skill by taking their minds to another level?

I don't recall Hiro and Zechs fighting worse in Wing Zero and Epyon...if
anything, they fought a whole lot better.

>Third, Amuro and Char, probably the best pilots in UC, aren't very powerful
>Newtypes. If Newtype ability was that big a factor in skill, then
>shouldn't the more powerful newtypes be the best pilots?

Char might not be a strong Newtype, but Amuro sure as hell is. Look, he can
communicate with the dead, manipulate and control his Funnels so well as to
form an invincible Fin Funnel shield, and what's more, stop an entire
asteroid from falling on the Earth! He's strong, no doubt about it. In fact,
he might even be THE strongest Newtype if Quess, Lalah and Camille didn't exist.

>Finally, there have been incidents of normal humans beating newtypes. Not
>counting "first battle" scenarios, Amuro got his butt kicked by Ranba Ral

Ramba Ral is the Aoi Kyosei. ^_^ And other people have sinec elaborated on
why he got beaten.

>the first time they fought, Quess was killed by Chien (don't think Chien
>was a newtype, but it's been a while since I saw CCA), and Garoad beat
>Kallis in Gundam X.

Chien IS a Newtype, a latent one, but still a Newtype. More on that in
another post...

And again, as someone has said, Quess wasn't killed by Chien.

>Things We Learn From Anime: A PO'd Tennyo on a murderous
>search for vengeance is more attractive than an irritable
>Japanese high school girl.
>(Ayashi no Ceres episode 4)

I second that. ^_^ Even Yuuhi realises that Ceres has more sex appeal...

>"We Suzaku Seishi aren't smart enough to give up!"

No, you aren't smart, period. ^_^
