Nobody's sure he died, is the thing ;p
CCA implies that he and Char died together saving the Earth (Char rather
unwillingly :P), but it never definitively came out and said it. I seem to
recall though that in Tomino's original novels Amuro did die at the end?
It's possible you're both right, but realistically, i think he's still alive
after CCA, just living in seclusion and that you shold give ME the MG Gouf
