know it has several missile pods, and a beam cannon (or was it particle
beam cannon), but other than those weapons the orchis doesn't have anymore
built in weapons. Although the weapon pay load is incredibly high, it
doesn't have many beam weapons which means it's battle endurance is quite
low. In the Gundam universe to my knowledge, missiles are powerful (during
that time till beam shields were invented) but you missed a lot with them
due to minoskvi particles. They can't be guided and have to be manually
aimed...so what's the thing which gets the missile from point A to point B?
  Hand eye coordination!!! =)

It does have an I-Field which deflects beam weapon fire. Well, it does
reach for its weapons, but the claw grabs the weapon and puts it in the
Gundam's normal hand in less then a second, so it appears in the animation.

Yeah, it runs out of weapons pretty fast, but the GP03 Gundam can rid
itself of the Orchis, when it is no longer needed. It has a powerfull beam
saber as well, the Orchis does. Kou wasted the Orchis's ammo on minor
target's, instead of saving it for Gato's MA.

The Orchis was a prototype as well, that explains its faults. I'm sure if
the Orchis was viable and cost effective to produce, they would have ironed
out its faults and mass produced it.

I am sure there's other Gundam's much more powerfull, though.
