Well, in 0083 those foldable claws allow the GP03 Gundam to grab its
bazooka or rifle, not sure which it is, haven't watched 0083 in a while. As
well as other weapons stoyed aboard the Orchis MA. Without these claws, the
GP03's extra weapons would literally be "out of reach"! :)
In 0083, the claw folds out, grabs the weapon and puts it in the Gundam's
normal hand. This is all done almost faster then you can blink, in the
animation.
