check out escaflowne and Aura Battler Dunbine fo r your influences..
Dunbine was a series created by Tomino that took place on an alternate
world(dimension?) with insectoid mecha...If you havent seen escaflowne, you can
rent it.. They did some cool ideas for their mechs...
