Yes, it is. Japanese doesn't have a true "v" sound (although there is a
special Kana character to use for it, but it is uncommon - its the [u]
kana with the two dots after it). Vernier would normally be pronounced
"baania" (BAH-nee-ah) in Japanese, so it was more likely a spelling
mistake that made it the Fb model and not the Fv model (plus, Fb looks
a bit cooler than Fv). Another reason could be that they didn't want it
to have a similar designation to another anime show from the 80's "Round
Vernier Vifam", but I think it was really the former and not the latter.
