the Gustav's range was only 13 miles with the 7ton shell, and 29 with a
four ton, But the 7ton shell could penetrate 90ft of solid rock (it also
took six weeks to move the gun to a new area and get it ready to fire).

Apparently the Germans built an experimental gun in 1940 that could fire
93miles but the small shell could inflict little damage so it wasn't worth
the effort. It was built mainly for pride.
