I have a friend who builds Gundam kits without using the assembly
instruction. When I asked him whether he was concerned that he'd screw
up, he said these mecha kits are all the same after you've built a few
dozens of them.
The Rick-Dias wasn't a major departure from the basic mobile suit design, so
building it without an assembly guide shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
Has anyone tried building a kit "blind" and never had a problem?
