There have been a lot of references to a "learning computer" in the
Gundam. I think this has some bearing on the discussion. If the MS moves
are preprogrammed, exactly what will the computer "learn" from its
pilot? Perhaps in this context, the "learning" will be somewhat akin to
the smart-chips they have installed in the latest automobiles equipped
with automatic transmission--the car's transmission will react to the
driving habits of the driver.

On the other hand, the "learning" could also include the sequences of
actions each pilot likes to use (sorta like "combos" used in video
games).

This "learning" makes more sense when applied to neural-interface
systems like the Psycommu--in CCA, Amuro's fin funnels almost have a
mind of their own and act according to his instincts. In this case,
given enough time, all the pilot will ever need to do is sit and feel
"something", the MS will automatically act accordingly.
