Larry Niven's a good example, however towards the end of the timeline, there
are just too many bits of supertechnology floating round.
Robert Heinlein also tried to merge all of his stuff into one multiverse
with characters crossing timelines and universes till it became a mess
-- God's in His heaven, all's right with the world.
